Sturdy Designs "Saber" Demo

Young Master Will (Sturdy) has asked me to start a demo thread for his newly available design, the “Saber”.

Its a very modern competition oriented design and Will has been flying it to great success (Experienced National Title) for the past season or two in both precision and ballet competitions. I’ve watched him fly it … this puppy tricks for fun (in his hands at least.

The demo is open to regular readers in the lower 48.Normal demo rules apply, please share your feedback wrt the kite, move it along to the next person in good shape and in a timely manner. Additionally we ask that you re-use the sturdy (pun intended) packing tube you receive the kite in. We hope that this will help keep the kite in good shape as it makes its way around the country. If you have an interest in participating please email me (frazer at kiteclique.com) and I’ll add you to the list. Demo fliers should send their feedback (both positive and negative) to the same address.

Saber Feedback

Here is the first Saber feedback from Britt

“Well I only got one flight so far, but I am very impressed. I’m not the best when it comes to judging build quality, but for flight here’s how it goes.

The kite is a very precise kite with a good amount of pull. The turning speed is on the slow side and very predictable. Precision here is actually up to par with an “N” or a “V”. Tip stabs are excellent and sudden two point landings from any angle are very nice.

On tricks the kite does do them very well, but not the most forgiving. You can knock the kite out of the air which was a very pleasant surprise. For a kite with a good amount of pull it was easy for me to over do inputs on tricks like snap lazies and comets. All of this is forshadowed because it tricks consistently and they look very nice.

Will did mention that the 540′s were a little askew. I think this comes from the fact that it is hard to flare out the kite without, and any off input will pull a fade. Along with the kite’s pull it can be problematic unless one is good with the “Exile snap” method.

I admit that I did not do too much flatspin work with it so far, but I was able to pull some Slot machines and a couple Taz machines with it. I have yet to find the time and patience to do tier 5 tricks (I think it’s 5) like crazy copters and yo-fades, but I’ll give them a shot next week.”
